Structural dynamic simulation of Automotive Crank Shaft
A crankshaft related to crank is a mechanical part able to perform a conversion between reciprocating motion and rotational motion. In a reciprocating engine, it translates reciprocating motion of the piston into rotational motion. In a reciprocating compressor, it converts the rotational motion into reciprocating motion. In this design, mode shape analysis automotive crank-shaft of a six cylinder diesel engine has done to find out different mode shapes. Approximate boundary condition has applied at its operating condition. The crank-shaft has analysed by varying the operating speed from 1000 RPM to 5000 RPM. Different mode shapes and displacement has obtained at different loading condition. The above picture shows one of the mode shapes at 5000 RPM & 525.203 Hz.
