In automotive engineering, an intake manifold is the part of an engine, which is used to supply the fuel/air mixture to the cylinders. The primary function of the intake manifold is to distribute the combustion mixture to each fuel injector in the cylinder heads. It also works as a mounting for the carburettor, throttle body, fuel injectors and other components of the engine. An Intake manifold design has been analysed using COMSOL Multiphysics CFD module to simulate the air flow around the several valve openings. The above contour plots show the maximum velocity (Red) and minimum velocity (Blue) flow inside the intake manifold design.
