Engineering acoustic design and analysis of Trumpet

A Trumpet is a musical instruments. Trumpet have been used as musical instruments since 15th century. It is also used as a signaling device in battle or hunting. Trumpets are used in art music and also used in orchestra and jazz. Trumpets are played by blowing air through with almost closed lips, which produces a buzzing sound. This sound is a result of sound wave vibrating in the air column inside the instrument. The vibration is mainly caused by air pressure produced by almost-closed lips which transfer through the air column to the end, which causes the buzzing sound effects. The CAE-Image shows the sound pressure variaton through a trumpet air column by applying air pressure value of 1 Pascal. The red colour represents minimal sound pressure level 190 dB and blue represents maximum sound pressure level of 204 dB at a frequency of 500 Hz. A sound pressure value of 197 dB is represented by Yellow colour at outlet. Acoustical eigen-frequency analysis has performed to predict the sound pressure propagation of trumpet design. This cae model can further be optimized for desired sound and tuned device at a desired frequency rang.
