Acoustic CAE analysis and sound characteristic prediction of home theatre
Home theatres are made with perfect arrangement of sound source and sound reflecting and absorbing elements in such a way that the listener can enjoy the pleasant surrounding sound effects. The engineering acoustic plays an important role to predict the room acoustics and helps to set up a perfect home theatre. The science of room acoustic plays a major role by making sure that each and every person can hear the dialogues and special audio effects. The whole room and sound systems are crafted to work as a single system and when combined with visual effects makes a perfect entertainment. While there is a pleasant feeling, the home theatre can cause hazardous situation if not designed properly. The low bass notes from the music system in living room can break the glass windows and make the floor vibrate under certain frequencies-the eigen frequencies of the room. When designing a home theatre, it is extremely important to take the resonances into account. For a clear and neutral sound, the eigenfrequencies should be evenly spaced. When shape of the living room is a limit, the perfect placement of the speakers gives better results. As shown in image a living room is equipped with a flat TV, two speakers, four furnitures without sound absorbing materials. The CAE-image shows the acoustic pressure level for it’s associated eigenfrequency. Heavy acoustic pressure is plotted in red and low in blue colour. By predicting the acoustic pressure and sound intensity pattern, we can place the speakers as required.
