Structural analysis of connecting rod for automotive application

Connecting rod is a mechanical component in reciprocating engine to connect the piston with the crankshaft. Piston, connecting rod and crank shaft together form a mechanism that converts reciprocating motion to rotary motion. During operation in an automotive engine the connecting rod is under tremendous stress from the reciprocating load produced by the piston. Connecting rods under heavy stress leads to engine failure. in this analysis a connecting rod is designed and numerically analysed for automotive application.
